Lo Sciopero is my new word of the day. It's Italian for "greve" which is French for "strike".There is, once again, a strike in France today.
This means no school for Estelle. Which means childcare problems for us on the day I am giving my final exam to my univ. students.
What one must love about the French is that you never quite no what a strike will entail. Today's strike included the first year of nursery school (Estelle), plus buses and trains and planes, and libraries. And some post offices.
And then, tomorrow, everyone will go right back to work as if it never happened.
Except the nursery school teachers who, of course, don't work on Wednesdays, thus providing a nice 2-day break for them. Interesting that the school strikes are always on a Tuesday or a Thursday. Hmmmmm.
