The Vallée de Daims

I tried to do this post over the weekend and something went haywire with the site. Will try to fix it now!
In August, this summer while in Calvinet, we spent one morning nearby visiting a private reserve for these little deer, called "daims".
The girls had been before with Guy & Andrée, but I had never gone, and Thomas can't recall if he ever had.
We knew there was a little train to drive you all around the park, and that you could buy food to feed the animals.
Interestingly, when we arrived, we had to call a cell phone and a college-aged guy arrived in a dirtbike to let us in and take our money.  The little train was only for the afternoon, and because the animals we felting their antlers, we were not allowed to feed them as they were considered aggressive.
So in the end, there was not another soul to be seen in this place.  Just us and about 100 fawns.  It was a bizarre, and fantastic experience.
The guy said "just close up when you leave".  It was surreal.

Gifts from home, and Art!

Last week Estelle got this box in the mail.  It was a box we had left at Joan's this summer.
In it were these "pockets", which I had asked Joan to make for Estelle's bed.
You can buy them from the bed company.  But Joan's are WAYYYYYYYYYY  better.

Thanks Joan!  They even have material on them that you see on the quilt on the wall behind!
Last wkend we spent part of the day at the Musée de Art Naif.  It was great!

Léna kept trying to climb on this statue.

I have been to this museum before and I do love it so.
Below:  what a surprise - a Grandma Moses painting!

Sorry my posts are so few and far between.  I'm teaching a lot.  It's busy around here.
Thinking of Vermont, and the leaves and the colors, and wishing I lived there.  20 years of living away from home is beginning to wear on me.

Estelle's Handwriting

Estelle's handwriting is improving on a daily basis - literally.  I'll let you all have fun translating.
